Good managers and leaders are critical to the success of a healthcare organization. They are the difference in whether nurses stay or leave, in whether units meet budget or don’t, and, ultimately, inpatient outcomes.

The Gannett Healthcare Group provides onsite management and leadership training completely customized to meet the needs of your organization and its managers.Each module is intended to be one day of content, and each is designed to stand alone. Presentation methods encourage active involvement of participants, so we recommend that the class size not exceed 30. Our educator will meet with individuals in your organization prior to the program to ensure that your unique needs, procedures, forms and cultural values are integrated into the programs.

In addition to these suggested modules, other modules can be developed for adaptation to your unique environment upon request to meet other management and leadership training needs.

INTERMEDIATE MODULE also includes Shared Governance: Process, Structure, and Application

Managing Performance Improvement

BASIC MODULE includes understanding organizational behavior, safety and quality goals, CQI and TQM processes, nursing standards and scope of practice
INTERMEDIATE MODULE also includes use of evidence to improve practice, benchmarking, knowledge of navigating change and sustaining the change process

Managing the Business — Human Resources

BASIC MODULE includes interviewing skills and techniques, orientation of new staff, performance management and key labor laws
INTERMEDIATE MODULE also includes cultural diversity, recruitment, succession planning and components of a healthy work environment

Managing the Business — Finance

BASIC MODULE includes understanding sources of revenue and expense, interpreting unit-level financial data, analyzing budget information and creating a budget plan
INTERMEDIATE MODULE also includes balance sheet and income statement interpretation, ratio analysis and business case development
